When God Says Move… But You’re Not Ready

When God Says Move… But You’re Not Ready

The Tension Between Calling and Readiness

There are moments when you feel it clearly—God is calling you to something more. A new direction, a business idea, a step that feels both exciting and unsettling. Yet almost immediately, another voice follows: “I’m not ready.”

This tension is familiar for many moms building businesses. You sense the calling, but hesitation keeps you still. You want more clarity, more time, more confidence. It feels safer to wait until everything makes sense—but often, that moment never comes.

When Preparation Becomes a Delay

Preparation is important, but it can easily become a hiding place.

It shows up as endless planning, constant learning, or waiting for the “perfect” time. On the surface, it looks productive. But underneath, it can be fear—fear of failing, of being seen, of getting it wrong.

Growth rarely happens in perfect conditions. More often, it begins when you move before you feel fully equipped.

You Don’t Need to Feel Ready

Feeling unready doesn’t mean you’re unqualified.

Throughout Scripture, people were called long before they felt capable. What mattered wasn’t their perfection—it was their willingness. The same applies to your journey. You don’t need to have everything figured out to take the next step.

Faith isn’t about having full confidence. It’s about choosing to move anyway.

Faith and Fear Can Exist Together

One of the biggest misconceptions about faith is that it removes fear. It doesn’t.

Fear can still be present when you take a step forward. The difference is that faith keeps you moving despite it. Just like someone stepping onto a stage with nerves but still delivering their message, you can build, create, and lead even when you feel unsure.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s action in the middle of it.

Walking Before You See the Whole Path

“Walk by faith, not by sight” isn’t just a comforting phrase—it’s a way of living.

It means taking steps without full visibility. It means trusting that clarity will come as you move, not before. Many breakthroughs don’t arrive as a full plan—they unfold through obedience in small, consistent actions.

The next step may not seem significant, but it matters more than you think.

Obedience Will Stretch You

Growth requires stretching, and stretching is rarely comfortable.

Stepping into something new can feel like pushing past your limits. But just like physical growth, that discomfort creates capacity. It prepares you for more—more responsibility, more impact, more opportunity.

If it feels unfamiliar or challenging, it may be exactly where you’re meant to grow.

Stop Waiting for the Perfect Moment

There will always be a reason to wait.

More time. More money. More confidence. But if you keep waiting for everything to align perfectly, you may never begin. Progress starts with small, imperfect steps—sending the message, launching the idea, showing up even when you’re unsure.

Breakthrough often follows obedience, not perfection.

Moving Anyway

God isn’t asking you to have it all together.

He’s asking you to be willing.

Willing to try. Willing to trust. Willing to take the next step, even if it feels uncertain. Because it’s in that movement—right there in the middle of your obedience—that you begin to see things shift.

You may not feel ready. But you can still move.
